JC's British & 4X4 - Service Center
I brought our family’s 1980 Land Rover Series III to JC’s British to have the fuel distributor (diesel) adjusted for altitude. At higher altitudes, air is less dense; some older fuel systems have to be adjusted to put less fuel into the engine under those conditions. It’s a complex service that involves removing the fuel components in the engine bay, re-calibrating the fuel distributor to dispense less fuel, installing the distributor at a precise set point relative to the engine timing, and re-assembling the fuel system. JC’s performed that work flawlessly, kept me informed about the work as it progressed, and recommended replacement of other components that had to be removed to facilitate the main work. After the service, the truck still made some smoke. So, JC’s remedied the issue by cleaning the cylinder walls-after operating the vehicle for 100 miles while it was being overfueled, the cylinder walls had been coated in fuel and the smoke being produced after the service was a result of those remnants. After they cleaned the cylinders, the smoke went away entirely. I am overwhelmingly pleased with the quality of JC’s work, their professionalism, and their willingness to take on such a difficult project. It is a testament to their skills and their expertise that our Series III runs so well, we’re thrilled with their work.
