Summer 2021 Expansion and location history.

We at JC’s British & 4x4 have always strived to exceed customer expectations in many avenues, from the quality of our service and relationships with our customers, to a welcoming waiting area and showroom, and to convenient parking and storage of your vehicles while they are here. One aspect that has become an ongoing challenge has been the available parking in and around our shop, even following our most recent expansion just three years ago. In an effort to stay ahead of our growing customer base and to alleviate some of the bottlenecks our current space presents, I’m excited to announce that we will be expanding yet again! We will soon have two great facilities located only a short distance away from each other. Our new facility located at 4747 S. Santa Fe will be focused on General service and repair of 2005 and newer vehicles, while our existing location at 1631 W. Hamilton Pl will be focused on 2004 and older vehicles, accessory installs, and outfitting. The ne ... read more

2mo, 2.5k miles and a trip to Moab with the new Defender - Part 1

2mo, 2.5k miles and a trip to Moab with the new Defender - Part 1

What better way to continue evaluating our new Defender than to celebrate Christmas with a trip to Moab, UT this year? It's now been about 2 months and 1700 miles since picking up our '20 Defender Model X from the dealer and I couldn't be happier with it. Do I think it's perfect, no, but it does meet my expectations of the truck and more. As I've stated before, I think the new Defender is a great replacement for the LR3 & LR4 as its inherent design is as a utility vehicle capable of performing a large range of tasks. A solid daily driver that can haul your kids to school as well as it can haul a load in the back, or haul a trailer. I do wish for a more off-road specific version as I lean heavily towards the "rock crawling" spectrum of off-road enthusiasts, perhaps Rover will release something in the future, but it's ok with me if they leave this up to the enthusiasts and fabricators to make this happen. And that is already in the works from ma ... read more

1 month and nearly 1k miles with the New Defender

1 month and nearly 1k miles with the New Defender

Back in June '20 I had the lucky opportunity to join Steve Burt, GM of Land Rover Denver, on Chinaman's trail with their pre-release D110. I had come out with my '98 Range Rover, my friend Chris with his '94 D90, and Steve's son with his Jeep Wrangler. It was during this trip that Steve allowed me some seat time in the Defender and I was impressed with its layout and seating space, being 6'4" and about 230lbs headroom and visibility is often a challenge in most vehicles. I had been considering purchasing the new Defender before this trip, but now knowing I had good headroom, seating position, and visibility cinched it for me.  I took some time thinking about the options and color choices and finally placed my order in early July for the model X with the rear locker in Pangea green. Now the wait was on, and I was updated about a month later with an ETA of October 30th. My next update came in early Oc ... read more

First impressions off-roading with the New Defender

First impressions off-roading with the New Defender

With the recent release of the New Defender, I was lucky enough to be invited on a trail ride with one of the demo vehicles from Land Rover Denver. They had already done a little outfitting of this one with a 2” air suspension lift and larger 275/60R20 BFG AT tires. We met at the Chinaman Gulch trailhead just outside Buena Vista Colorado Sunday morning. It was a cool dry morning following a pretty good rain the night before which really cut down on the dust on the trail and offered incredibly clear views of the surrounding sky and mountains. Four of us lined up that morning, Chris & Shea Breidenbach in his ’94 D90 nicknamed “The Crusher”, me and Dena in the ’98 P38 nicknamed “Trail Shark”, Steve Burt the GM of Land Rover Denver in the ’20 D110, one of Steve’s sons in his Jeep TJ, the other son hiked most of the trail taking video. Making Customer & Employee Health a Top Priority with Ozone Disinfectants

Making Customer & Employee Health a Top Priority with Ozone Disinfectants

Making Customer & Employee Health a Top Priority with Ozone Disinfectants   In an effort to combat the virus, JC’s British & 4x4 is using Ozone Disinfectants to sanitize vehicles and our buildings. Customer and employee safety is our top priority and we want to ensure that we are all safe. So, we are offering ozone disinfectant services to customers who are concerned with their vehicles. Come in and have a cup of coffee while we disinfect the entire inside of your vehicle. This service takes only 15 minutes of running the ozone generator in your vehicle. Our facilities are treated nightly with a two hour run time of our larger ozone generators. We still use hand sanitizers and spray disinfectants for spot treatment throughout the day as ozone can only be used in unoccupied spaces. Given what we have been told as to how easily COVID-19 can be spread it is crucial to disinfect areas that you frequently come into contact with - which include ... read more

Jaguar services added

Jaguar services added

JC's British & 4x4 is now offering expanded British car services by adding Jaguar to our fold. Since 2005 Land Rover and Jaguar have shared many drivetrain and electrical components as they were both owned by Ford at that time. And since the acquisition of both Land Rover and Jaguar by Tata Motors in 2008 they have been fully merged on a corporate and engineering level into the JLR auto group. JC's British & 4x4 is one of the few Colorado shops that has Genuine JLR diagnostic equipment and a full subscription to JLR factory information and programming, and top tier aftermarket diagnostic tools from Autologic. We invest in the factory JLR special tooling so we can follow that manufacturer's service procedures perfectly, and stock a large volume of parts to expedite our service work to get our customer's vehicle back in their hands as quickly as possible following our thorough post-service test drive. We look forward to becoming your prefer ... read more

A Brand That Inspires

A Brand That Inspires

If you would have told me a year ago that a car brand would be a life changing motivator, I would have told you that you were crazy. Since immersing myself in the Land Rover brand, I have found it to be so much more than just a vehicle.  Rather a true extension of an adventurous lifestyle.  The History of Land Rover and its dedicated followers really caught my attention. So many seemingly ordinary people taking what started as a farm truck on epic ventures. I read about people like Barbara Toy who took her Series I, Pollyanna, on solo excursions through Africa, the Middle East, across Asia, and even around the world. Later reading an article on Bristol Foster and Robert Bateman being reunited with their long-lost Grizzly Torque, a 1957 ambulance built by Land Rover, that had been lost for decades somewhere in Can ... read more

"New" Defender SWB Spyshots

"New" Defender SWB Spyshots

New spy shots of a SWB (short wheel base) Defender test mule have prompted me to write down some of my thoughts on what the "new" Defender will and won't be.  First off, It is pretty clear that we should be expecting an independent suspension in any & all new products from Land Rover. While I personally lament the loss of solid axles under the new Defender, I understand the move by Land Rover doing so as it will allow enhanced drivability in all but the most extreme terrain. Yet, when matched with the amazing traction control system developed by Land Rover it will still surpass solid axles even in extreme terrain. The drawbacks are more related to the Series & Defender purists and those looking for major lift and build modifications to the vehicle, but we can rest assured that there will be individuals, shops, and manufacturers that will come to our aid in turning the new Defender into an off road beast. Be it i ... read more
